Community Level

We know that it is not enough to simply bring trainees and faculty to our hospital - we want to have a culture of welcome and engagement. Toward this end we work within our hospital to listen, learn and embrace those of all backgrounds. We are part of the larger community of UPMC and also reach out to collaborate with our colleagues from all across western Pennsylvania and now extending to Harrisburg.

Below is more information on a number of community partnerships and collaborations Pitt Pediatrics is proud to be a part of.

Career Help Advancement and Achievement Mentorship Program (CHAMP)

CHAMP is a bridge providing tangible mentorship between Arsenal Middle School Students, University of Pittsburgh Medical Students, and our UPMC/Pitt faculty. We host educational events and curriculums throughout the school year at Arsenal, with a wide variety of subjects from CPR Education to Career Day.

Salud Para Niños

At Salud Para Niños, culturally and linguistically sensitive primary care for children and families is provided through the city of Pittsburgh and is complemented with activities oriented toward prevention and empowering the community about its own health.

Pitt CVC

The Community Vaccine Collaborative (CVC) is an innovative community-academic partnership centered on mitigating the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on minority communities, from increasing participation in vaccine trials to promoting vaccine uptake, and, more distally, improving trustworthiness of research and health care among minoritized communities.

The Pittsburgh Study

The Pittsburgh Study (TPS) is a trusted network advancing child wellbeing through shared leadership, action, and research.
