Lichter-Konecki Recognized with UPMC Extra Mile Award

Pitt Pediatrics congratulates Uta Lichter-Konecki, MD, PhD for being named the winner of “The Extra Mile” Quarter 3 Award from UPMC Physician Services. Lichter-Konecki is a Professor of Pediatrics in our Division of Genetic and Genomic Medicine, as well as the Director of the Metabolism Program at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh (CHP). She also serves as the Director of both the Medical Biochemical Genetics Fellowship Program and the Mitochondrial Medicine Center at CHP.

The “Extra Mile Award” is awarded quarterly to a UPMC staff member or physician who demonstrates going above and beyond their job duties, maintaining a high office morale, and actively displaying the UPMC values.

In her nomination, it was noted, among other recognition, that Lichter-Konecki shows “extraordinary commitment to patient care, family support, and clinical excellence…[She] consistently demonstrates behaviors that go far beyond the expectations of her role.”

Lichter-Konecki has been with CHP since 2016, following positions at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington DC, as well as the National Human Genome Research Institute in the NIH. While she sees all patients with clinical genetic and metabolic diseases, she has an international reputation in urea cycle disorders and phenylketonuria, which are her primary research foci.

Please join us in celebrating this well deserved recognition for Dr. Uta Lichter-Konecki.
