Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship
Welcome to the University of Pittsburgh Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship Program page! We offer a certified three-year fellowship in Newborn Medicine. The program accepts four fellows each year. Fellows rotate through the Neonatal Intensive Care Units at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital and UPMC Children'sHospital of Pittsburgh.
UPMC Magee‑Womens Hospital is the region’s busiest maternity center, with over 10,000 deliveries annually and an 83‑bed Level III NICU admitting more than 1,800 infants each year. Neonatologists collaborate closely with Maternal–Fetal Medicine and the Center for Advanced Fetal Diagnostics in planning for the delivery room management and initial stabilizaiton of high-risk neonates.
The 55‑bed Level IV NICU at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh offers ECMO support and comprehensive subspecialty care, with more than 800 admissions each year
Alongside exceptional clinical training, our fellows collaborate with leading researchers across the University of Pittsburgh to pursue innovative, high‑impact projects. Fellows regularly share their work at regional and national conferences and are frequently recognized with prestigious awards.
Finally, we pride ourselves on the collegial nature of our program. Attendings and fellows are on a first-name basis. We view our fellows as junior colleagues and treat them as such.
Our program is led by director Nicole R. Dobson, MD, FAAP, and associate directors Ashley Kimble, MD, FAAP, and Mia Harton, MD, MS.
