Noel B. Spears, MD, MPH

Spears is a Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Vice-Chair for Education for the Department of Pediatrics. She graduated from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and completed her pediatrics residency training at Children’s Memorial Hospital (Lurie) in Chicago and fellowship training in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. She earned a Master’s in Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health. Dr. Spears has led in medical education throughout her career serving in the leadership of the UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship Program as the Associate Program Director (2004-2012) and Program Director (2012-2020). Her research focuses on medical education and childhood injury. She has mentored numerous trainees and faculty in research, scholarship, and career development.
