The mission of the Division of Health Informatics is to drive patient care to a new era of high-value care, by focusing on data driven outcomes through transformative innovation and collaborative efforts.
Our goals are to apply the power of technology in supporting patient care and research; integrate clinical, operational, and financial data; and implement a comprehensive pediatric predictive analytics platform.
The division is responsible for maintaining UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh’s state-of-the-art data warehouse and works closely with University of Pittsburgh’s dedicated research informatics office. Together, we serve the research and data needs of biomedical investigators, clinicians, and administrators in Pitt Pediatrics and Children's Hospital.
We meet industry standards for electronic health record security in data collection, data storage and retrieval. Some of the key applications used are Cerner Millennium 2018.01.09 (electronic health record), Oracle 19c (database), Business Objects 4.2 (report writing) and QlikView QV 12-20 (analytic dashboard).
Research
We conduct research in clinical informatics with a specific focus in studying the impact of real time electronic decision support.
Clinical Operations
We maintain robust clinical dashboards and effectiveness guidelines for common pediatric conditions.
